Position Student Email [email protected] Bio/Description Hajra Farooqui is a doctoral student in the Islam subfield. Her research interests include the gendered construction of religious authority, transnational Muslim print publics, and affect in the archives. In particular, she explores the ways in which emerging Muslim communities in 19th and 20th century urban America are shaped by and respond to Islamic movements in South Asia. Before Princeton, Hajra received an M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from NYU and a B.A. in Ethics and Religion from Duke Kunshan University. In her free time, she enjoys baking, listening to history podcasts, and going to local bookstores.
