Bio/Description

Sylwia Wilczewska is a visiting fellow at the Department of Religion, where she is working on the research project on the border of religious epistemology and theory of practical reason, aimed at analyzing the nature and varieties of practical agnosticism about God. Among the problems she is investigating is the impact the historical dimension of agnosticism has had on its contemporary form, the specific features of agnostic spirituality in the context of spiritual inquiry, and the relation agnosticism has to pragmatism, fictionalism and negative theology. Apart from the philosophy of religion and history of philosophy, her interests include the philosophy in and of literature and the intersection between epistemology and aesthetics. She got her PhD in philosophy from the Catholic University of Lublin and works as a full-time researcher at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
