Position Student Email [email protected] Bio/Description Xinran Ge is a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Religion at Princeton University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Japanese from Zhejiang University, China, in 2022, where her BA thesis was published in Kokubungaku (国文学) vol. 108. She continued her studies at Zhejiang University, completing an MA in Buddhism in 2024, with her thesis focusing on the Vigrahavyāvartanī's critique of Nyāya philosophy. Her upcoming book, Buddha's Images in Ancient Chinese Paintings, is set to be published by Zhejiang University Press (Hangzhou) in 2024. Additionally, her translation of Buddhist Canons (仏典解題) is under revision and will be published by the Commercial Press (Shanghai). Her current research delves into Japanese Buddhism, where she combines textual and visual materials to explore how Buddhism shaped the lives of ordinary women in premodern Japan. Xinran is committed to uncovering and narrating the long-lost stories of the so-called daughters, wives, and mothers, bringing their own voices and experiences to light.
